Prynne published a pamphlet, Histriomastix (1632) in which he denounced female actors, at the same time Queen Henrietta Maria was participating in a court masque. Frederick of Mömpelgard (d. 1608) became the Duke of Württemberg in 1593. Robert, Earl of Essex (1586-1601) was a favorite of Elizabeth I, Queen of England, and occupied a variety of military posts.
